10. ONE LIGHT STILL SHINES ~ Marie Roberts Monville

This story was so touching! Being from South Jersey & living so close to Pennsylvania Amish country - I can not tell you how many weekends we would go over the bridge to delight in shopping for handcrafted goods and the friendly people you would come across.  The food is not bad either!  One of my most treasured possessions is a handmade cedar chest purchased by my grandparents from an Amish store in Lancaster PA.

I remember how deeply this story affected those around the nation as well as in our back yards.  Forewarning, this story is mostly about Marie Monville's faith in God.  It is a book steeped in faith and religious belief.  I knoew that going in and while it was a little too on the preachy side for my personal taste, it came across as an honest representation of how she and her children moved through the tragedy of her husband, Charlie, taking the lives and injuring precious little girls in an Amish school house on an October day in Pennsylvania.

It was a tear-jerker for sure!
