Another Chunk of Reads

37. Alex Cross, Run by James Patterson

Every time I read a James Patterson I ask myself why I continue reading him.  The book themes are running into each other.  Someone is after Alex Cross (Shocker!) and he saves the day (double shocker!).
I think its because they are so readily available from the library downloads and they are easy to listen to while Im working (aka not requiring much thought on my part to keep up).

Plus I guess since I started the series a couple years ago, like The Women's Murder Club & Private I have to keep going.  I feel like I have committed so I must.

38. Lucia, Lucia by Adriana Trigiani

I keep waiting to get the last of the Valentine books but it doesnt look like another one is coming anytime soon!  This book really transported me back to Lucia's New York.  I really enjoyed it as I have Adriana Trigiani's other books.

39. If You Were Here by Alafair Burke

I have only read a couple Alafair Burke books but so far I am rather enjoying her writing.  (Plus the fact that she tweeted me doesnt hurt - just kidding)
A few times during the story I thought I knew what was coming and I was a bit wrong - but by the end I was pretty spot on.  I actually like being right about storylines.  I really enjoyed McKenna Jordan's story line.

40. Takedown Twenty - Janet Evanovich

Who doesn't need some Lula and Stephanie Plum in their life?  I struggled a bit through books 18 & 19 but this one had me cracking up!  I was a bit worried about Grandma Mazur for a minute there which was a little different. I am still team Ranger.  (The Ranger in my mind - not the Ranger from the movie).

41. Cross My Heart by James Patterson

A bit of a suck fest! Yay for Ava but boo on the rest.  Seriously - a kidnapping of the whole Cross family?  Really? So far fetched it was unenjoyable.  Maybe after 21 books he just doesnt have an interesting arc anymore.

42.  The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews

Satisfying my need for chick lit once again is Mary Kay Andrews!  I love the Southern Georgia charm of her books - I hear the thick drawl of the Belle's of her novels.  It is all chick lit all the way - happy endings included - a great girl escape.

43. Hissy Fit by Mary Kay Andrews

See comments above.

44. Starry Night by Debbie Macomber

A small time Chicago journalist goes off on the elusive story of a lifetime.  A total romance with a little Christmas thrown in for good measure.  It took me a day to read.  I love Debbie Macomber.

45. The Pact by Jodi Piccoult

I have mixed feelings about this book.  It was a bit all over the place.  I did not like the ending at all.  I felt like the story hit a climax towards the end and then without any follow through there was the end.  WHAM! It slammed into a wall and then it was over.  No "ending" really - it was like okay all the exciting stuff happened aaaaaaand its over!  The premise of the story was okay as far as the actual Pact goes - but the ending left a lot left to be desired.  I had hoped for so much more.
