Over the last couple of weeks I have been receiving this question quite a bit. Most of my friends & acquaintances know how much of an avid reader I can be. That being said - my totals are falling short this year with moving and getting settled but I am excited to jump right back in where I left off.
I am considering getting the new Nook. I hear wonderful things about its functionality and most people dont miss 3G.
Since my last update I have devoured the following books:
10th Anniversary - Book 10 of the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson.
As usual this lovely series does not disappoint. There is love, drama, danger, and even an engagement! I really like James Patterson. I have been reading quite a bit of his books this year trying to catch up on all he has to offer (and there are a lot!). So far this series is my favorite, and I do love quite a few of the misc books he has thrown in the mix. Definitely good beach reads!
The Abortionists Daughter by Elisabeth Hyde
This is a book I downloaded to my to Nook from the libaray ( a GREAT resource for nook users!)
It involves the murder of a well known abortion doctor and her relationships with the various people who are initially accused of committing the murder. It was insightful without being to pro-life or too pro-choice (either of which are anyone's right to believe - JMHO). It was a quick read. I was lost in it with in the first couple of chapters, but some of the things that happened were pretty predictable.
Very Valentine & Brava, Valentine by Adriana Trigiani
These two books are apart of a series. I love Valentine!!! She is an Italian from New York who follows in her grandfather & grandmothers footsteps to become a custom wedding shoe maker. She is light and funny. She has a self-depricating humor which I love! They are such quick light reads with a little family drama (and craziness) and love in the mix. Plus the descriptions of various places in Italy does not hurt :)
My Name Is Memory - Ann Brashares
From the author of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants comes a story of a man who is reincarnated into a new person each time he passes away. His life becomes about finding his Sophia in every life he has. I am not a fan at all of the book. I found it bounced around too much with little flow and the story was boring and predictable. It was recommended by a friend - so I feel bad for saying because she loved it - but I thought it was a horrible read.
Right now Im working on the newest installation of the Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich and I am so excited!!!! I cant wait to finish and post a review. SP is such a Jersey Girl so she touches my heart with her weird psychosis! Also this summer on my to read list are: The Bride Quartet books by Nora Roberts, Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen, and a couple by Carolyn Jessop and Ann Brashears. Hopefully I will be able to fit in a few more!
This is the summer of the books! Im secretly hoping to double my goal for the year but if I finish with my projected goal of 52 Ill be okay with that...
So... "What are YOU reading this summer?"
